Our second event of the season last Saturday at Windrose Golf Club was a success. The only way to describe Saturday’s weather is perfect. We are 2 of 2 when it comes to great weather. Here is your tournament report.
Davis, Deforest, and Broughton Destroy a Short Windrose….
Punched greens and fairways were nothing for long time I-tour members Ray Davis, Gene Deforest, and Alfred Broughton. All three players shattered the -6 cap, and had to be capped at 66. After a scorecard playoff, Ray Davis, member since 2007 picks up his first victory on tour. Terry Fushack fired an impressive 4 under par 68 to finish forth. Closely followed by David Hubbard and John Ottea.
Tony (Danger) Bowers get groovy.....
Tony Bowers, no relation to Austin Danger Powers, shagged his first victory of the season at Windrose last Saturday. When Tony learned that were playing lift clean and place I saw a twinkle in his eye and a big smile. Tony guaranteed victory on the number one tee box, then let his clubs do the walking, posting a gross 71 net 67. Tony needed every shot to fight off last weeks B Flight winner Joe Sublett (70) and I-Tour Rookie Hector Trevino (70). Tied for 4th place were Michael Settle(71) and Scott Key (71). Tony Bowers proves that low handicappers can still compete on the I-Tour
REGISTERATION DEADLINE.......
Please register by the tournament deadline. Remember that we play the best courses in the area, and they are in high demand. I have to provide the golf course with a definite number the Monday before our events. After Monday they start selling tee times to the general public. Please mark your calendars and schedules. See you at Houston National.
